Junior Board

Change doesn't wait. We need you now. Help your community while gaining valuable leadership experience and local knowledge.

The White County United Way Junior Board includes student leaders from Frontier, Twin Lakes, and North White High Schools, and is currently accepting applications from Tri-County High School, as well. Students meet monthly to learn about board service and work on their annual service projects.

Junior Board members are eligible for community service hours, leadership opportunities, and potential recognition at graduation.

Apply Below
Applicants must be students in good standing at a White County, Indiana high school. All grades are welcome, and homeschooled students are eligible, as well. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Complete the form at the bottom of this page.

2023 Service: Youth Summit

Junior Board members assisted in the county's youth summit, bringing students from all high schools together to discuss challenges and opportunities of living in White County, Indiana.

2022 Service: Prom Dress Drive

Six young people are able to attend prom this year because they received formal wear from our prom drive! Junior Board members collected gently-used formal wear at their schools, then managed a "boutique" shop to distribute those clothes, free of charge, to area students who needed help with prom expenses!

2022 Service: Parks cleanup

Members of the junior board collected four bags of trash, a toilet, and a wheelbarrow full of piping and other garbage. It was a beautiful morning in Monticello City Park, and we are looking forward to doing it again soon.

2021 Service: HygIene Drive

Junior Board members worked with their peers to collect soap and other bathroom items for the comfort of people with housing insecurity. They were able to collect more than 300 pounds of personal care items to donate to mental health agencies and food pantries throughout the county.

2020 service: Back to school PSA

Junior Board members wrote and recorded videos to assist their peers in practicing proper social distancing and hygiene when returning to school.

2019 Service: Peer Mentoring

We began learning about how to mentor younger students when the President of the Community Mentoring Program in White County, Mike Godlove attended a Junior Board meeting as a guest speaker. We learned how to be positive role models, what kids need to hear from us, and how to be friendly leaders while maintaining a bit of authority. Very importantly, we found out how to make reports as "mandatory reporters" and what warning signs might indicate that something was going wrong with the younger student.

2019 Service: North White Student Council Christmas Gift Fund

Junior Board members voted to donate to the fund to provide holiday gifts to North White youngsters in need. The Junior Board has a fund that allows them to contribute to partner programs within the schools and the communities we serve. Future fundraisers of the Junior Board will help to contribute to this fund.
