COVID-19 will impact 2020 coats distribution
As of August 28, 2020, the WCUW still plans to conduct Coats for Kids for those living in White County or attending a White County school. However, our collection and distribution will change significantly to protect against transmission of COVID-19.
donation details
We appreciate your donations, but 2020 might not be the best year to donate coats. If you have coats you would like to donate:
- We will only accept new coats.
- If you have gently used coats for donation, we would love to accept them in the fall of 2021. If you have the space, please put them back in the closet and donate next year.
- There will be no public collections boxes and we are not actively soliciting donations of coats this year.
- No coats may be dropped off at our office. We will schedule a low-contact pick up for any donor wishing to donate coats. Please call ahead.
- Monetary donations will be applied to purchase new coats for distribution this year.
- Any new coats that you are donating must be ready for pick up by October 26 this year to undergo a quarantine period before distribution.
distribution details
Coats will be distributed on Saturday, November 7 from 9 AM to 1 PM at Monticello Christian Church under a drive-through process:
- Children must still be present at the distribution. Coats will only be distributed to fit children who are in attendance.
- Children who are exhibiting signs of illness MUST NOT attend coats distribution. There will be an alternate delivery process for children who are symptomatic at the time of distribution.
- Children will remain with their families and separated from other children during distribution.
- Vehicles must enter the Monticello Christian Church through the SECOND, far-south entrance on Airport Road to avoid blocking Gordon Road. Please look for directional signs upon arrival.
- When entering the church campus, please watch for volunteers to aid in registration.
